Marine Science Summer Camp
An immersive week of discovering the wonders of marine ecosystems, snorkeling, kayaking, hands-on science activities, meeting environmental professionals, exposure to a variety of marine science careers, and off-site excursions.

About the camp
This is no ordinary camp. It's an immersive, hands-on experience that will have campers discovering the wonders of marine ecosystems, exploring our local seagrass beds and coastal dune lakes, and learning about the incredible biodiversity that thrives in and around our coastal waters.
Whether you're snorkeling, kayaking, collecting scientific data, meeting environmental professionals, or making a difference through volunteer projects, every day is packed with excitement and learning!
By the end of camp, you'll not only have made amazing memories and new friends but also have a deeper understanding of marine science — and how we can help protect our environment for generations to come. Ready to dive in? The adventure of a lifetime awaits!
When & Where
When
Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM to 4 PM. Drop-off 8:30–9 AM (some days require early drop-off no later than 8:30 AM for off-site excursions). Pickup 3:30–4 PM — a late fee applies after 4 PM.
Where
St. Andrews State Park (4607 State Park Lane, Panama City, FL) and Camp Helen State Park (23937 Panama City Beach Pkwy, PCB, FL 32413). Off-site field adventures throughout the week — campers travel by van.
Who
Middle school students currently in 6th, 7th or 8th grade — now accepting 9th graders for the July weeks. Campers must be able to swim.
Cost
$300 per session — includes registration, on & off-site field excursions, an E&FCA sunshirt, snorkel gear, and lunch, snacks and hydration daily. No refunds unless the session is cancelled by E&FCA.

What to expect
Exploration of Unique Ecosystems
Explore the incredible gems right in our backyard — snorkel the seagrass beds of St. Andrews Bay and kayak Lake Powell, the largest coastal dune lake in North America.
Biodiversity and Ecology
Discover the incredible variety of species that call our coast home. From tiny critters to majestic creatures, campers learn about their roles in the ecosystem.
Hands-on Science
Collect and analyse real data just like marine biologists do — study water quality, observe wildlife, and maybe even make exciting discoveries along the way.
Environmental Professionals
Meet and learn from experts who work to protect and preserve our environment, and gain insight into careers that keep our oceans and shores healthy.
Fun Sneak Peeks
Campers at St. Andrews meet Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission officers and Park Rangers. Campers at Camp Helen talk with the Lake Powell Community Alliance, do a special project with the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance, and go behind the scenes at the Gulfarium & Sea Turtle CARE Center.
Give Back
Let's leave a positive mark on the planet — campers take on volunteer projects and become environmental stewards.

Eligibility
- Must be a middle school student — currently in 6th, 7th or 8th grade. Now accepting 9th graders for the July weeks.
- Must be able to swim.
- Must be nominated by a current science teacher — nominations are waived for the July camps.
- Submit the application online.

Deadline for nominations: rolling until camps are full.
Please note that submitting a nomination doesn't guarantee a spot at camp. All nominations are reviewed, parents are notified of the nomination, and an application is sent to those who qualify.
